Anne’s Week to Blog!

Hi everyone. It is nice to have the opportunity again to have the chance to write and let you know what I have been up to at the SUN Network for the past month.

We are all still working from home, but we are slowly reintroducing face to face meeting under socially distanced guidelines. Please see our guidelines below and if you would like to meet up to share your story or let us know about your Covid-19 experience, then please get in touch, we would love to hear from you. If a face to face meeting is not feasible for you right now then we can always call you, arrange a video meeting or exchange emails.

Please read our face to face contact guidelines.

  • Although cafes and restaurants are now open, whoever you meet up with will discuss with you whether these are a viable option for a meet up.
  • We will be adhering to the social distancing rules. I know this has been relaxed to one metre but this might need to remain 2 meters depending on the team members personal circumstances.
  • Meet ups will primarily occur outdoors, in an open space. For example, a park or a green space etc.
  • Please be aware you may need to walk somewhere to find a quiet open space.
  • We may be able to meet up in a garden, if we can access that garden externally and there is the ability to remain 2 meters apart.
  • The team member you meet with may request to take your temperature and be wearing a face mask and gloves.

It is not how we like to normally carry out our meet ups, but it is important, to ensure you and us are all kept as safe as possible. Hopefully even with these guidelines you will get in touch and arrange a face to face meeting? enquiries@sunnetwork.org.uk We look forward to hearing from you.

As a team we have participated in a few outdoor social distanced meet ups. It has been wonderful to reconnect in person with the team and I know it has certainly helped to keep us focused, motivated and lift our spirits.

As a team we arranged an on line quiz for us all to participate in. We each had to come up with 10 questions. It was a fun way to connect with the team and put our brains to the test. We hope to do it again. If you would like to join in then please let us know by getting in touch. anne.wigglesworth@sunnetwork.org.uk

I have already attended a few social distanced meet ups as part of our Winding Road Project; a project where we are following several different individuals over a year, hearing their experiences to see if they are managing to get the right help when they need it. They went well and it was nice to reconnect with people once again.

We are members of the Cambridge Mental Health Network Group and Peterborough’s PMAN meeting group. These are two meeting groups where many community and charity organisation get together to share their latest news and for us to update each other on activities, projects or any changes which may have occurred. It was really positive to hear that all the organisations, such as Cambridge Community Arts, Choices Counselling, Group Therapy, Richmond Fellowship, to list just a few had all worked really hard to ensure their services were still operating, providing the essential support to their clientele. Many of the organisations shared their online / phone call response to the Covid-19 crisis had been very successful and were considering continuing this new aspect of their service into the future. What do you think? Have you received online support? What have you felt about it? Is it something you would like services to continue to offer? Please let us know by calling me on 07921 879318 or emailing me at anne.wigglesworth@hotmail.com

Another meeting we participate in, is the Adult Social Care Forum. This meeting is joined by a diverse group; with individuals from the Older People’s Partnership Board, Sensory Impairment Partnership Board, Speak Out Council, Counting Every Adult, Carers Partnership Board and Speak Up Spectrum; Along with representatives from Cambridge County Council and other support organisations. Our role is to represent Mental Health, ensuring mental health has a voice within social care. Would you be interested in joining this meeting with me? We would love to have someone with lived experience join the forum. The forum now engages with the whole of Cambridgeshire, including Peterborough. When meetings reconvene, you will need to be able to travel. For more information please get in touch by either calling me on 07921 879318 or dropping me an email at anne.wigglesworth@hotmail.com

Well that’s it from me. I hope to hear from you.
