We are pleased to have secured temporary funding to bring back the Self Care sessions for 6 months. To find out more on any session and for beneficiaries to apply they can do so at

Sessions are aimed at those not in work or working minimal hours and where they are ready to make changes to develop their confidence. To help them decide if they wish to attend any of the sessions, here is video explaining how we run our them We have found this useful in reassuring beneficiaries, as we understand anxiety can get in the way of doing something new.

Beneficiaries can choose to attend one of more of the sessions. We do ask that when committing to a session, that they then attend. We have been experiencing some who have been referred to us, who are not ready and or don’t wish to attend our sessions. As a small charity, this does take up time and spaces that we could be devoting to those ready and willing. So please do not use the application form as a referral form and encourage your beneficiaries to make their own decision with the information and video above. Beneficiaries or yourself are welcome to drop me an email if they want to ask any questions. My number is also below.

Mental Health First Aiders Training (MHFA) for staff and paying clients

We are delivering our next MHFA training on January 27th and 28th 2022 at Arbury Community Centre in Cambridge. 9.00 to 5.00 both days. The price is £279 per person.

The 2 day MHFA course is an in-depth look at mental health, the factors that trigger mental ill health, practical skills and development to identify and tackle issues along with the support routes available.

Our course qualifies participants as a Mental Health Aider as accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. Participants will gain:-

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing.
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.
  • Confidence to reassure and support a person in distress.
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support.
  • Everyone completing receives the MHFA manual, a wallet-sized booklet of the MHFA action plan and the MHFA certificate.

Places will likely fill quickly as we are keeping the numbers smaller to ensure safe social distancing. Having worked in the mental health sector for over 15 years, I attended this course earlier this year and still learned a lot. Our trainer Jeremy is highly experienced and brings to life in a sensitive, and at time humorous way, a difficult subject.

By choosing us to deliver your MHFA training, you are directly benefitting those we work with in Cambridgeshire, as all proceeds goes to our charitable work, helping to meet the 74% increase in demand since COVID.
